Microsoft also said that more than 240 million licenses of Windows 7 have been sold and according to Net Applications Windows 7 is running on 93% of new consumer PCs and has over 17% global OS market share.

Windows Vista may not have been Microsoft’s best product, but it’s successor Windows 7 seems to be doing just fine in the difficult productivity market. It’s hard to believe, but it’s been about one year since the operating system made its official debut, and already it’s captured 17 percent of the operating system market around the world. Nearly 1.2 billion personal computers out there have a copy of Windows 7 installed, and nearly 90 percent of businesses around the United States have already made the move to the “what-Vista-should-have-been” OS.

Part of 7′s success can be attributed to the immense advertising campaigns carried out by Microsoft, which still carry out in the form of print and TV advertisements to this day.

Windows 7 is looking more and more like the next-generation Windows XP, and most users are seemingly loving it.

As for me, I still use Windows 7 for some tasks, but have primarily moved to Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard for my everyday work and other tasks.

Are you using Windows 7 yet?
